Sabina
Yasmin is a Bangladeshi vocalist. She is best known as a playback artist in
Bengali silver screen. She has won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best
Female Playback Singer a record 12 times. She has recorded more than 1,500
melodies for films and more than 10,000 tunes altogether. Yasmin was granted
Ekushey Padak in 1984 and Independence Day Award in 1996 by the Government of
Bangladesh. Yasmin was conceived in 1953 to Mouluda Khatun. The main melody
that Yasmin learned with the family unit harmonium was Khokon Moni Shona. In
1964, she sang routinely in Khela Ghar, a radio program. P.C. Gomez was her
established music guide. Performer Altaf Mahmud came to know her performing
voice while going to her neighbor's home. She made her introduction in playback
singing through the melody Modhu Jochnar Dipali for the movie Agun Niye Khela
(1967), coordinated by Zahir Raihan. As youngster specialists, she and Shahnaz
Rahmatullah won honors from President Ayub Khan. Yasmin
got her first leap forward through the melody titled Shudhu Gaan Geye Porichoy.
She at that point began working under Altaf Mahmud in films including Anowara',

Yasmin
has three sisters — Farida Yasmin, Fauzia Yasmin and Nilufar Yasmin. Her dad,
Lutfar Rahman, worked in Provincial Civil Service of British India and her mom
Begum Mouluda Khatun was a vocal craftsman who took lessons from the artist
Ustaad Kader Baksh. Sabina is the close relative of Agun (child of Khan Ataur
Rahman and Nilufar Yasmin), an artist and Reenat Fauzia, a sitar player. Yasmin
has hitched three times. She has a girl, Fairooz Yasmin, an artist, from her
first marriage with Anisur Rahman, and a child, Srabon, from her second
marriage with Amir Hossain. She met Kabir Sumon, and Indian-Bengali artist and
political lobbyist, in 1998 and later the couple got hitched. In July 2007,
Yasmin was determined to have Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
